The International Astronomical Union congress, “Communicating Astronomy with the Public,” (CAP) in Toulouse from 24 to 28 June

After Tokyo and Sydney, Cité de l'espace is hosting the 2024 edition of the International Astronomical Union congress, "Communicating Astronomy with the Public," (CAP) in Toulouse from 24 to 28 June This year, for the first time in France, Cité de l'espace has been selected to host the Communicating Astronomy with the Public congress. Organised every two years by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), these meetings are an opportunity to bring together the international community in the field: professionals in astronomy, astrophysics, scientific culture, communication in science, etc.

Prestigious speakers from the international astronomical community

This hybrid congress (broadcast online) will be deployed throughout Cité de l’espace.

300 people  from 50 differents countries are expected during the five days of CAP2024 at round tables, workshops and sessions with prestigious speakers from the astronomical community such as Maram Kairé, a Senegalese astronomer whose numerous missions for NASA were rewarded by the Marcel Moye Prize of La Société Astronomique de France (The Astronomical Society of France) last year.

Olivier Bernet, astrophysicist from IRAP (Toulouse) will also participate. He was one of the first scientists in the world to use data from the James Webb Telescope, the largest observation instrument ever sent into orbit.

An evening dedicated to the James Webb telescope with the preview screening of Deep Sky, an IMAX ® film

The general public will be able to take part in this event on Thursday, June 27 during an evening dedicated to the James Webb telescope with the preview screening of Deep Sky, an IMAX ® film in the presence of the film team. This free evening will be by registration on the citeespace.prep.faire-savoir.eu website  (registration link to come ).
